Soft Matter Physics: Theory and Computational Methods

The course provides an overview of different soft matter classes. It consists of two parts: theoretical and computational. The theoretical part introduces the physics of polymers, liquid crystals, and passive and active colloids. The computational part presents three simulation techniques (molecular dynamics, Brownian dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations) and illustrates them through programming tutorials. The language of instruction is English.

Lecturer: Dr. Milos Knezevic

When attending this course 6 credit points within the ECTS system can be obtained.

Students are required to attend the lectures and computational tutorials, and complete homework in order to receive a Schein at the end of the semester.

In certain weeks there will be programming tutorials instead of lectures in the same time slots.

The lectures start on Wednesday 4th of November.
